Jane Gale
Jane Gale is the Partner in charge of the Family Department and qualified as a Solicitor in October 1990. She has always specialised in Family work and advises on all aspects of relationship breakdown between married, unmarried and same sex couples. Jane is an accredited Resolution specialist in the areas of Private Law Children Matters and Cohabitation and has built up a particular expertise in negotiating financial settlements, which has included representing clients at the High Court in London. Jane regards no case as “too big or too small”, having experience of cases involving millions of pounds and family businesses, whilst also understanding the importance of giving practical cost effective advice to resolve cases where assets are limited.
Whilst working in Southampton, Jane represented local Solicitors on the Southampton County Court User Group. She has also previously spent her spare time working as a counsellor for the Rape Crisis Line and acted as Company Secretary for the management company of two blocks of flats in Preston. Jane takes a keen interest in new developments in family law and was one of the first local solicitors to have acted on the dissolution of a civil partnership.
A keen “foodie”, Jane tries to compensate for her excesses at Preston and Manchester restaurants with long walks in the local countryside when time and weather permits. Jane is an enthusiastic supporter of the local community, shopping regularly at Preston Market in order to try out new recipes on her partner, Martin, and cat, “Buttons”. Jane also enjoys attending productions at the Playhouse Theatre and Guild Hall. Having grown up in Wiltshire and worked as a solicitor in Southampton for 8 years before moving to Preston in 1998, Jane makes regular trips “down South” to stay in touch with family and friends. However, Jane has never regretted the move to Lancashire and has become a fan of “all things Northern”.
